Ok after some SPST switches on maplin (for making my car interior)
After something like this
How do these illuminated switches work? Do they just suck juice from the wires you're connected to or a seperate supply?
I'm hooking it up to the back of my cd player so i can switch off my bass in the boot with the flick of a switch, so the wires are simply speakers wires and im dubious the illumainting feature would work.
Any ideas?

they have 3 wires connected to the switch,
one is a ground, one is a positive, and the other is the wire that sends the power when the switch is thrown.

Could you just explain how it'd work with for example a speaker wire then
I have a simple speaker wire from the back of my radio, and i want this switch to turn it on/off, but am wondering how the switch illuminated once on.
Hook pin 1 to one wire Pin 2 to the other And pic 3 to a 12v power source??
Sorry if i havn't got the right end of the stick i appreciate the help

cut wire, connect + & - pins to wire, either way. connect ground pin to metal frame of car. depending on which direction the + & - go is if the switch will light up when on or off.

Are your subs powered from your head unit and not an external amplifier? If the amp were external you can just remove +5v from the remote wire to turn the amplifier off.
If your subs are powered directly with speaker cable, I beleive you are going to need a DPST (Dual Pole) switch so you can hook positive and negative up with one switch. Nevertheless, illuminated switches are usually used for power switches; if you cannot get power to it (I wouldn't want to pull it off the speaker lines) you are going to need a relay, power source, and seperate LED most likely.

It's not amplified (yet) just a sub in my boot.
I think i'll just get a standard toggle switch and attach one of those missile launch toggle switch covers for the hell of it
Cheers guys.
