I know there are a multitude of MS haters out there, but for the ones who do use it, can anyone tell me why I can not encrypt files. When I got to the dialog box the option is greyed out. Thanx :grin:

If you are using XP Home Edition, then you are SOL. Encryption is not included.

This maybe a little of the subject but why is Linux considered better? Aren't many of the programs/software out there not compatible for it? Thanks

Because linux has a very strict permission/execution hierarchy, not everything under the sun is executed. It also has less security holes form bad programming and less buffer overflow exploits in the base sytem. Yes alot arent compatible but their are alternative open source programs.
