Articulation problems
    #5101835 - 12/24/05 12:41 PM (18 years, 3 months ago)

Not quite sure if the title is what im tryin to get at.

Basically i have all these grand ideas in my head and grand ambition etc, and i know exactly what it means to me and shit.

but when i try and tell someone what i think/want/beleive etc. i can never find the words.

In my head it is so amazing but with words i cant explain it.

anyone else get this?

Everyone has this and that's what seperates the artists from the "normal" people

the artists can find the words

"This combines the good sides of every other drug with none of the bad. This is the ultimate luxury, the flawless wisdom-pleasure hit. More mellow and cozy than heroin, but you don't nod out. I feel more alive and wired and energetic than with speed, but not jangly. Its got the blast of cocaine, but it lasted ten times longer."

"Going to the grave without ever having a psychedelic experience is like going to the grave without ever having sex. That means you will die before even becoming an adolescent." -Terence Mckenna

Find a girl. Do what you need to do. Should clear things up.

Its all just words and fantasy unless you got something to show. People find doers interesting not dreamers alone but dreamers that make the dream reality.

words make shit confusing.
Language was developed as a way of preserving history and passing down stories after the people got stupid. The only solution is to become a master linguist. Or use telepathy.. or both>

thats what frustrates me. language is so completely inadequate to properly convey things to other people. basic shit like this yea i can tell you guys the basics of my probs and you can tell me the basics of how to fix it. but i cant tell you how she smells, or the feelings i feel, or the thoughts pulsing through my mind....

serously who knows more about that vervain i think its worth at least a try

i think not being able to convey the ideas you hold in your head is evidence that you need to understand them more fully yourself before you could ever hope to convey them to others. spend more time studying.

i really do wish there was a better method of communication

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh my little girl

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Enjoy the silence

There is no simple fix.

You will have to read and learn and read and learn.

P.s. Language isn't inadequite.

I don't know how you can claim that unless you speak several languages and know every available word for each one and all possible syntax.

I like to use the quiet smile in that situation.

To me it depends on the person I'm trying to convey the ideas to, there are people that I can just let words fall out of my mouth without even stringing thoughts together and they understand what I'm trying to say. Sometimes I only get a word or two out. Other people I don't even need to speak, they read my thoughts, they can tell by the look in my eyes and they can share my dreams. If I really can't find the words, to me it means I'm not ready to say it out loud, so I write it down for later.

Engrish is a slang term which, in its purest form, refers to poor-quality attempts by Japanese writers to create English words and phrases; whether in mistranslation of an original Japanese language text, or in an attempt to create an original text in the English language.

I used to have similar difficulties expressing my thoughts.

The key for me is to relax, try to break down what I have to say into small hunks, and to work on each hunk individually.

Sitting around campfires talking to complete strangers while smoking and drinking has been the perfect therapy for me. Festival therapy, I call it.

I have a book thingy, but like I write on anything and then just stick it all there....

I think there is merit in all the reading that people are suggesting as well, I read an awful lot.

I think he's right. Sometimes you think you have this grand idea, but when you try to explain it to someone you realize that it's very fleeting and lacking in any sort of detail. If you profoundly can't explain it then you probably dont understand it yourself.
