Pasterized Straw for Order (not!)

In seeing that there is much interest on this site now about straw teks, I was wondering why a vendor hasnt steped into this market and offerd pasterized straw. A few years ago JLF sold it. I understand that it worked great even after being shiped thru fairly warm weather climants. (I dont believe that they shiped during the hot summer months) Now JLF, nor really any vendor seems to offer it. I'm sure that people that live in the crowded cities would appreciate the option of being able to order small amounts of it. I mean, a bale of wheat straw is about $5.00. However thats A LOT of straw (40 - 60 pounds sometimes more)- This poses a huge problem for people that drive small cars and want to be discreet... (ah, yea this is for my HORSE that stays in the bedroom) - Anyway, just thought there might be a nich in this market.

From what I gather, one pretty much has to shop for it in a location that is not far from horse/cattle farms. For many thats simply not the case. Strangly, the stores that would seem to sell it dont (not a high profit item at 4.00 a LARGE bail) and the ones that one would least expect to sell it do.

Got some good info for you. I got it from the FF. Go to Walmart and look in the crafts section, there you will find small bails of straw for about 3.50. They are only a couple of pounds but they are chopped up pretty good, cheap and available. Dioze1

theres no crafts section in our walmart... and for some reasons the crafts stores dont carry straw either. but you can get wheat straw, cut in 6-12" from pet stores, some anyways. they use it for rodent beddings... just read the bottom and make sure it contains wheat straw. but you need to past. yourselves-

Walmarts usually just stock the mini bails for thanksgiving and xmas, so if you want it, better hurry up, might catch it on sale. It is the cleanest straw available anywhere, most feed store straw is full of mold and mushroom spores that often live through pasteurization.

Your straw teks are VERY imformative and well illustrated (well enough anyway). But, for the life of me I cant understand the emphasis on chopping the straw. Somebody on this site posted his awesome looking cultivations that were on non-choped straw. They looked great!

Keep in mind Mycotek Support = McMan. McMan is a police informant and was removed from this board for threatning other vendors. Basically the guy is what you would call a NARC. Deal with him at your own risk Jammer.

The mini bales for crafts are great. Very clean. Somewhat chopped. 12 in by 6 in by 6 in. 2 minibales perfect amount for a 40 gallon terrerium. Easily pasteurized in a large stock pot/ pressure cooker. Often available at walmart for .50 Any craft store that doesn't carry them will get some for you. You can also find them online very easily at craft suppliers websites, but they cost more like 3-5 bux. mushroom magic also sells chopped straw. chopping straw is good, cuz it allows the straw to be more dense, allowing for higher yields and faster conlonization. Simply compressing the straw (ala shroomgod's straw tek) will do the same thing.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
