Straw Causing Shorter Fruits?
    #510084 - 01/04/02 02:55 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Hey guys, I am just now seeing my first fruits with a few casings. What is weird is I have 2 casings made with straw and 2 with 50/50... the straw ones seem to be producing shorter fruits, real short and fat (maybe 2-3" tall). The 50/50 are producing taller skinnier (3-5"). Has anyone seen this before? Same strain, Thai LY. Im just happy to not have 1 contam and actually see good results like this for my first try but I am still curious.

Thanks!

A while back I seen what my friend had going. Now he used an entire 10 gallon tank full of weat straw that sat in a 29 gallon that was used as the terarium. (long story as to how the set up worked)- PF Classic strain.

He didnt even cass! When the fruits poped they were very fat. Short? Nope not the ones that I seen. In fact they mostly grew so tall that they fell over due to the weight of the caps (even thou the stems were fatter than normal)- I seen some about 8" to 10" long before drying.

Ya, these are fat as hell. I only have a couple of large ones so far so maybe I need to just wait it out. I am pretty sure they're not aborts cuz they are still growing! :-)
The caps are barely starting to form. You can tell the straw works alot better, they look healthier.

Why is it that no vendor offers pasterized straw for oder? JLF used to- and I hear that it was awesome!

But now, it seems that JLK (like who wants to place an order ther since the raid anyway) nor any other vendor offers it.

I'm sure that many people that live in the city would rather order an amount smaller than a BALE ( 40-60 lbs sometimes) that they cant fit into there car.

Ya it's fun stuff stuffing half a bale in the backseat of a cavalier... even more fun vacuuming it out later!! grrr!! :-)
The only problem I have now is what to do with all that straw! haha..oh well at least I'll always have plenty to use.

I just made a post an this subject in the vendor forum.

I really think that somebody could make a profit selling pasterized straw. And, just think? If it was to get radiated- all the much more better!!!!!!

pasturization does not kill EVERYTHING like sterilization and irradiation do. if you sterilize your stray you aint gonna get shit. well not a lot anyways before you are hit hard with contams.
