Spawn storage question

I am going away for two weeks soon, and have spawn in jars and bags in varying degrees of colonization (most are nealy complete), and all are apparently healthy.

My question is whether anyone had any opinions on storing spawn and whether there is a narrow or wide window of opportunity when it comes to casing / initiating spawn.

An alternative to waiting until I return is to case and give the trays to friends to care for, but being somewhat of a control freak, I'd rather be there for the fun part (and to document/tweak it all).

What do people think? And how about cold storage, in the refrigerator at ~38 deg?

Yes, once colonized put into fridge at 40?F.
Keep months this way.
