And spud, you're signature is awesome, Hicks was the man.

Is there not any space to breathe between the concept of "haste" and the concept of "hesitance"? Can one not approach something with a clear mind and neither rush into the situation nor hesitate to approach it?
Seems to be a matter of semantics and context with the word "hesitate."
Do you think that the second quote means to imply that one should, disreguarding an approach of hesitation, do the old "fool's rush in?"
Personally, I believe the second quote is a reference to an act more along the lines of procrastination... ie, to put off what needs to be done instead of approaching it methodically and calmly. (opposite of haste..?)
This does not contradict the message I get from the first quote, which is that rushing into situations without approaching it methodically and calmly will lead to a more wasteful and/or errorful outcome.

i'm sure for pretty much every single proverb, you could find another proverb that contradicts it. proverbs are stupid, better to make decisions based on the particular circumstance rather than on some set of silly one-liners.

Go fast enough to get there, but slow enough to see. Moderation, seems to be the key.

I first heard "haste makes waste" when I was 12. It hasn't left my head since because I make a lot of haste AND waste. That annoying phrase has helped me remember to slow down.

He meets all my needs.
HASTE on the other hand...well, when I haste, I tend to tip things over and dump stuff everywhere and trip over objects set well out of my reach. Moving slower helps me relax and hopefully avoid such routine disaster. It's really a patience problem I have. Everytime I speed through an activity I can hear "haste makes waste" in my head like a little bell. Sometimes I heed it. So you see, I take a practical use from that phrase. In fact, I am suspiciously wondering why I'm hearing it now.
