Can anyone offer any advice on hunting for Psilocybe mushrooms in Ontario, Canada? preferably near Toronto, do they even grow anywhere near there? What type of terrain would I be looking for? what time of year is best? etc.,
Psilocybe silvatica (Peck) Singer & Smith. (Singer & Smith, 1958).
Panaeolus subbalteatus Berkeley & Broome. (Pollock, 1976).
Gymnopilus viridans Murrill. (Hatfield et al., 1978).
Quebec Psilocybe caerulipes (Peck) Sacc. (Singer & Smith, 1958).
Possibly the Psilocybe quebecensis Ola?h & Heim. (Guzm?n, 1983). ...but not sure, climates are very similar throughout, Quebec and Ontario
Allong with the Liberty Cap, which I found several years ago south of Toronto, Gymnopolis Spectabilis, and some other mildly active Panneolus species, and a few other rare Psilocybe's and Stropharias.
I live in Ottawa, which you know is a little North of you, and I have been rather successful this year, and now that I truly know what to look for...will be even more successful next year...cheers and good luck with the hunt.
