Closed eye visuals

Yesterday was fourth of july and I ate a healthy dose of shrooms. By time the fire works started I was tripping very hard. The fire works were pretty and all but when I closed my eyes, and saw the colorful visuals. I was simply blew me away. The fireworks were a bore compaired to what was going on in my head.Perhaps the must beautiful trip i've ever experienced. Anyway does anybody out there have any theories why we see these beautiful displays. I mean there must be a reason for them right?

I saw a really good post on a theory why we see them, it was very good, I'm gonna go searching for it. Its something like your brain waves go like this and when they hit your seeing brain parts you see things like that and it covers the 4 most common patterns.

do you have a link or something Johnny to back this up? Or some type of proof?

Actually visuals and the ability to have 3D visualization is directly linked to Theta wave activity in the brain. If you stimulate theta wave frequencies...you develop visuals. I've had really good Goa induce closed eye visuals without me being on any drug.

Shpongle induces closed-eye-visuals for me without intoxication

No, it's undergraduate psychology. In one of my classes during my senior year we learned about the various brain waves, how they're monitored, what they're associated with, etc. Biofeedback is a study of the various rhythmic relationships from external sources on the brain waves themselves.
There are four main types of brain waves: beta, alpha, theta and delta. I forget what Delta is associated with, but beta waves are heightened/associated with complex mental process (figuring mathematics in your mind, memorizing lines from a script, etc), alpha waves are hgt/assc with dream states, theta waves are hgt/assc with deep meditational states.
There are Goa artists who create patterns and loops whose frequencies correspond to the various brain waves. The 16th note bassline, which used to be one of the most defining elements of a Goa track, specifically aims to stimulate the alpha waves. Alpha waves are stimulated in the 7-12 cycles per second range of frequency. Biofeedback studies how external sources of various waveforms affect these frequencies in the brain. It's like holding a tuning fork next to a piano with the sustain pedal depressed: every string in the piano who's frequency is a harmonic of the tone of the tuning fork will resonate. The same idea is behind biofeedback. By inducing loops of various frequencies specifically geard at making changes in your consciousness, the music itself induces you into a trip or dream-like state.

Delta Waves = Dreams, or the deepest levels of sleep. Although I'm sure the brain produces delta waves during other activities as well.

Heh, I know what you mean Squid. Fireworks are pretty bunk compared to CEV's. I tripped the 4th, too, and actually I thought the smoke trails after the lights went off looked cooler than the actuall lights.

I thought the dreaming brain waves and the deepest level of sleep were very different... *edit* I think the dreaming brain waves are almost like the wake waves.

I believe the delta wave frequence encompasses both dreaming sleep and dreamless sleep. Delta waves have a frequency between 1.5 to 4.5 cycles per second, typically. I think the lower the frequency the deeper your sleep becomes and the less dreams you have.

I remember once after smokin weed after doin bout 4 gs, when i closed my eyes i had the most vivid images and visuals, it moved like the window washers of a car but were really bright and colorful, i later found out that the brightness came from me not completly closing my eyes lol.
