Well, if you are a first time grower I don't think you sholdent try to make it. Order it offline that is the best thing to do.

Read the PF-tek for dummys.... the link is in nobodycares signature. Anno has made a great tek for the beginner.
Follow it to the tee and you will not have to ask so many questions.
As far as making your own syringes... I make my own... The directions are in the Tek.

Well, I wasn't really looking for "answers". Just looking for some advice based on personal experience. As I have not yet attempted to grow them, but soon to try, I realize that knowledge will stem from trial. I was simply seeking some helpful words of advice. I've been reading quite a bit, though I havn't figured out how to use petri dishes, agar, etc, yet. Perhaps you'd like to help. If not, thanks anyways.

go to grow/find and research casing and you will know what a casing is. or go to mushroom pictures forum and you will find many many many pictuires of casings; theyre very self explanitory. making a syringe is easier than you think if you create a little canopy or something out of paper towels (thats what i do). suck up some boiling water into a syringe 4 or 5 times to sterilize it. leave the last 10cc of water in teh syringe and allow it to cool inside a ziplock bag. scrape the spores into a shotglass. get a paper towel and alcohol and wipe the needle of your syringe. shoot the cooled (accent on COOLED) water into the shotglass and stir it up w/ the needle. suck up the spores with the water into the syringe. cap off your syringe. youre done. just make sure you have a tent or something over your work area and your immediate area is cleaned w/ lysol. usually takes longer for me 2 boil the water and let it cool in teh syringe than anything else. its more time efficient to do 3 or 4 syringes at once just because it only takes 2 min to transfer the spores and like 30 min at least to cool the water in the syringe.
