Black Poplar tubs--case?
    #5069766 - 12/16/05 01:58 AM (18 years, 2 months ago)

I used grainspawn to incoulate a few trays of wood shavings that were pasteurized.  Now, the trays are colonized (well--dish tubs), and I'm trying to decide if I should let them incubate a few days to several days longer and then move to the fruiting chamber?  Or do I need to case these lightly and fruit?  Do I let the casing layer colonize before fruiting?  I'm tempted to let them incubate a few more days and let the substrate get good and colonized and fruit without a casing layer.  Ideas?

Thanks.

you need casing layer....incubate a few days won't hurt, yes...let the casing layer colonize before fruiting
if you ever grew cubies you'ld have no problem with them.

Agrocybe aergerita is called Black poplar. Very good edible tastes similar to Agricus capestris Grows on wood in warm temperate regions,
like southern USA and the Mediteranean.

i see there are some nay sayers...you don't need the casing...yes, but it will be better with one. here are 2 well known sites out of many that can attest to this.
