So I've had my crumbled cakes cased for a month and a few days and no sign of mushrooms. in the first week I found that I had cobweb mold and so I sprayed with baking soda for a few days and then decided to scrape off some of the top layer of pottingsoil. Should I toss them out as a failure or just wait longer. The tiny white specks I see on top have been there from the start and have not changed.??
any suggestions??

I know this doesn't answer your question but I also cased with potting soil and mine hasn't done anything and is has been well over a month. I look at the sides of the casing and it looks like cob web mold has taken over. I pretty much gave up on it. My advice for FUTURE growing, don't using potting soil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dig out a small section and examine it, more than likely you have major contams after this long..Also , newbie should use straight verm, for learning the process and having a positive outcome..Good luck...

I think I'll do like you said and dig out a section a check for contams. But if i dont't see any can I just take the potting soil off and lay vermiculite on top?

Jiffymix is what I bought but it never seemed to grow. I looked underneath the mix and all I could see was the Verm. It is like the mycelium disappeared. Im gonna toss it and try some cakes. thanks everyone
