My PF Classic cakes have started to pin and I have serveral large hyphal knots growing actually they look more like a stem now than a mycillium knot.... They are about the size of a new pencil eraser or bigger now with no cap forming. Anyone else seen anything like this and know what might be causing it? Do you think they will eventually form a cap. This is probably my 6th batch or so, so I know what a pin looks like this is just something I haven't seen yet. Any comments would be appreciated.

Dude that first pic dosent look all that healty. Maybe the color is off... but it looks pretty damm gray- this looks a little like gray mold.
But hey, there fruiting I see.

On closer anaylisits... The upper left corner of the cake in the top pic shows what realy does look like gray mold growing on some small pins... DONT EAT THOSE. (you could get sick)

I thought it looked like mycillium on them due to high humidity.
Haven't had any experience with gray mold though so I guess I can't say for sure. I really wouldn't see it as gray looking at it though...

A couple of largest fruits on the bottom pic look fine. However ya got some big deformaty there too- I cant tell what the hell it is... it might be another fungus..
Fuck it...
Dude it's really starting to look like what you have have here are cakes that have at least two fungus growing (#1: mycelium #2 ??? ) and fruiting AND gray mold.... Best to toss them...
Of corse if the mature fruits look like the best cubie pics on this site... your kewel (on those paticular fruits only)

Hmm...
I unno, im no expert, but by looking at the perlite in the background which appears gray, i think it might be that the colour on the pic is fucked.

I sure as hell wouldn't toss them this early, to me all the mycelium looks grey, it must be your camera. I seriously doubt those are contams, grow them out man, see what happens, if they really start turning gray and it's obivous they're contams then i'd toss them, but as of right now we really can't tell what's going on..
it still looks pretty healthy to me anyway..

That is weird. If the mycelium is really that color,then you have a contaminant of sorts.

A very good point about the perlite in the background being the same color as the mycelium.
The jury is still out as of now.
(but I still see a weird deformed fruit on the bottom pic- thats my MAIN concern)

i've had a lot of pins come out like that that ended up to be perfectly normal. just wait it out and give them the proper care they need, you'll probably be fine

dude those are PF cakes. with the way that strain grows id say its more odd if you DONT get fucked up deformities. my friends PF's always look fucked up; and so do most of the pics i see here. thats why i dont grow them because by now theyre pretty much mutated and deformed anyway. that eraser liek deformity will probably just grow in size and maybe pins will form off of it. dont be surprized if it expands to the size of a golf ball. just eat it and it will do the same as any other shroom except i hear the mutants are possibly more potent.
