hey magic mush growers.. how do you dry your mushroom?? please list them and share with other ppl

me.. put em in da darkplace(with cool air) or jar tek

I use a dehydrator with the heater removed. This is basicaly a fan with levels of screens.

I got some window screen, cut out a big square. I folded down a few inches on each side, and stapled the corners together. Basically just made a box without a bottom. I just stick it  on my desk, set my shrooms on it, and turn on my ceiling fan. With  air from all sides, they dry in about 36 hours, and being at room temp ensures they stay nice and potent. :dancingshroom: YUM!!

I fan dry my shrooms for 24 hours then stick them in a desiccant box. I just use damprid because it is really cheap. If it is a small batch they only have to stay in there another 24 hours. My box is sort of small so if the shrooms are too big I just fan dry them for 3 days and they get cracker dry. It is winter now though so the air is really dry. I don't really know what I am going to do in the summer when the humidity hits. Maybe i'll have to buy a dehyrdator.

I work in a wholesale warehouse so I grab silica gell packs from dozens of boxes a day. These are made of tyvek so they work great, just tossing a couple in a tupperware.

yup i got me a snakcmaster at 85 f works perfect have cracker dry mushies in less than 10 hours

85 is awesome, every other dehydrator i have seen operates on like 105f.

does anyone know anything about freeze drying? i looked on e-bay and the machines are expensive, but there were some cheap ones.

The ronco works fine and that runs at 130.. no noticible loss of potency.

i run my american harvest food dehydrator at about 105 for like 18 hours. sometimes i do them at 145 to get them dry in like 8. No potency loss at all. I have 2 FD-50 models but with 12 trays each. i belive agar has the same setup.

Nesco works like a charm for me!! I never had a problem nor has there been any potency issues.
