Delayed Colonization

Hello all....My friend innoculated 12 jars nearly a month ago and they are only about 50% colonized at this point. Temp. has been fairly cold (67-70)...is this a major factor? I thought perhaps the substrate was slightly too dry? Ground brown rice was used along with the MMGG followed precisely. No contam at all...but these things are taking forever....any suggestions or insight here is greatly appreciated

Yep. Temp is the problem. Get it up to hi 70's at least(86 is optimal).

Will do...we're working on that now. What about the moisture within the cake....is this a possible factor? Is there any way to rehydrate these babies or will casing take care of this?

While the cakes are still in the jars, it would be much more trouble than it's worth to try to increase moisture(they'd most likely contam). just try to get the temp up and if you are going to case them when they are finished, that will help with too little moisture. Or if you are going to grow off of the cakes, you could always just dunk em before you initiate pinning.
