I totally agree with putting norton to rest. Between norton and XP they hog a lot of resources. I got a legit copy of norton free so I use that. I have heard a lot of good things about avg antivirus software. They have free trials you can try out too.

I've used AVG for a few years now, and I'm very happy with it. Best of all, it's free!

AVG Free and Spybot Search and Destroy is probably the best free combination of anti-virus and anti-spy ware software, both don't hog system memory and keep your computer rather clean and quick running as long as you keep them updated (for free).
And if ypu dont already have it, get Firefox. Probably the best browser I've had, out of the two I've ever used (IE and firefox).
Good luck getting rid of Norton, its a virus in of its self.

I use the mentioned AVG free edition + Spybot + ad-aware combo.
AVG got rid of my CWS infection i couldnt even deal with using the help of specialty sites. Hell even the designated 'CWS cleaner' program couldnt kill it.
Good stuff.

i use ZoneLabs Zonealarm because I find it to be less intrusive, but I am considering switching to AVG... this is the first time I have heard about it.

Really, it spreads from computer to computer in a virus like fashion?

For Winblows AVG is good and free. I like Panda AV a lot. I've had all of the major AV's and Panda kicks all of their asses; just don't ask for customer service.
