Urban Environments?
    #5063471 - 12/14/05 05:23 PM (18 years, 2 months ago)

So I was wondering...just for the sake of conversation, how many of you enjoy tripping in an urban environment? Does anyone have any cool stories about it? What kind of psychedelics do you prefer in this sort of environment? How about any suggestions of things to do in the city while tripping? Any horror stories? I'm just curious because I live in a city and have a little experience in tripping here.

Any thoughts or talk on any of this would be awesome!

I have once tripped in NYC, in central park. The night was extremely foggy, it looked like something out of a Jack the Ripper movie. We walked around the city for awhile and it was very pleasant, the entire city looked like Gotham. Everyone on the streets seemed like they would walk by and try and grab our attention, like that came out that night to see us, it was hilarious.

"I feet like baby Jesus and everyone is bringing me gifts" I said something along those lines...
a lot of fun.

I like sharp transitions like starting in the park and then hopping a bus downtown...the contrast creates some interesting things...

it all depends, i live in a small town, i have spent numerous tirps wondering aimlessly at night, its a rather romantic looking place to be when all of the fucktards are sleeping, but we also have like 150 police officers, a fucking lot, considering a population of 16,000,
and every one of them is a total dickhole, and insists on fucking with every night meananderer, if it wasnt for them, i would love it,

i have tripped in niagra falls a couple of times, AMAZING, i love that fucking place, i want to trip in chicago, seems like it would be fun, i think it would really depend on the city or rather the attitude of the local authorities, triping in a city itself can be very enjoyable, theres so much to see, but once you throw in a couple of variables, i end up prefering the country

I live in Toronto, and enjoy tripping around here. I've had many enjoyable walks through the downtown core - I love looking at the buildings, and it strikes me as being 'little units of life' as people run around and consumme units of expierence. Everything becomes very compartamalized and organized.

Seeing the patterns and reptitions in buildings is also very neat, like seeing a wall of windows in a sky-scraper, then seeing the lighting inside of it running along the cieling/etc.

Toronto also has some very nice green spaces, and in the older areas like Cabbagetown, some very nice little neiborhoods with nice gardens, houses, etc.

I think I've said this in another thread - but while tripping in nature is still #1, I think alot of people under estimate/under-value the enjoyment that you can get from tripping in urban settings.

you really should go get a hotel room in niagra and walk around tripping for a night, check out the falls, it is amazing, my favorite thing about tripping in the city is the way light/shadows play on one another

but the falls all lit up at night, amazing

I'd imagine the falls would be intense at night...looks like I have one more thing to do before I die.

and kaniz...I know what you mean about the buildings...Downtown Pittsburgh has some pretty interesting buildings. They're all very angular, clean designs that seem very organized. It's really cool to start in downtown and then go up to Mt. Washington, which over looks all of downtown.

do you people worry about cops while urban tripping, or do cops in big cities not care?

it has to be OBVIOUS if you're tripping balls walking around staring at things acting like a kid (in other words, acting like a HEALTHY INDIVIDUAL) that you're doing something "wrong" to anyone that would care to pay attention to you.

this mainly applies to people in America.

Hrmm, cant say the worry of cops have really entered my mind while walking around - except the time I was peeing behind a dumpster and one drove past me.

However, Toronto has a pretty active night-life, and its not unusual to see all sorts out at all hours, in all my time of running around Toronto at odd hours of the morning/night/day either sober or not, I've never had any problems with police.

I think you'd be more likely to get police hassle in a smaller town where there is less to do at night, as there is 'less valid reason' for being out.

But, when you have bars that run till 3-4am, after-hour clubs that run till 6-8am, and after-after hour clubs that OPEN at 6am and dont close untill 6am the next day, combined with 24/hour stores, coffee shops, laundry matts, shift work, etc.

Combine this with a high homeless population, and alot of 'crazies' on the streets - seeing people out and about at all odd hours of the night is not that unusual.

Unless you're doing something to get their attention, like tresspassing, yelling, shouting or being stupid and disrupting the peace - it's never really been a problem.

Cops could give a shit less if you are tripping in public here...they have bigger problems to deal with and as long as you aren't creating a danger to yourself or other people, they can't do aything just because you're tripping face in public. One of the best parts about tripping here is that you can commit the illegal act of dosing in the privacy your home and then wander with near impunity as long as you don't act out of control. If you don't bother people, they won't bother you. It probably helps that I dress like punk squatter when I go out like that so people probably just think I'm a little crazy when they see me. Also, I don't go around eating ten grams of shroom and wandering the streets. Heavy doses are for home. Also if I pick my spots correctly, my behavior doesn't even seem strange. Eg. tripping lightly in an art museum...
