THE NEW SCHOOL PRAYER
    #504399 - 12/29/01 10:14 PM (22 years, 3 months ago)

I copied this and pasted it here:

THE NEW SCHOOL PRAYER

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
for this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
it violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
that's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
and pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
and the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
we're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; my soul please take!

That is one of the most idiotic redneck things I've ever read... It's not that I can't see the argument, that is just a retarded way of going about it. Don't use that to rally support...
It's not a crime to pray in school, it's just not supposed to be led by teachers and whatnot. They're just trying to keep the school systems "vanilla" since a lot of people these days want to make their own choices, and deal with it on a personal level.

I think praying in schools licks. When I was young I was always forced to say it, and I began to resent it.

It is pretty stupid that we're not allowed to pray, but atleast in my school we're supposed to say the Pledge of Alleigiance which incorporates the "one nation under God" or whatever. I stand up with everybody, but don't recite anything or put my hand over my chest.
You can always pray to yourself though, quietly. I prefer to meditate upon the gaze of my holy Malibu Stacy doll.

Everday at school I knelt to pray
God protect me
and keep me away from temptation
and evil niggers and jews and all non-christians
and maybe a couple kids got mad
but it was a rural school and most people were pure
so we hung the rest.

Reminds me the last breath of a fascist society where the church and political power were used to control the mindless population.
We had 55 years of this nonsense in my country, we concluded (as other countries conluded) politics and religion should be separate thing and i support this idea.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying you should not be allowed to express you religion, you should. I just think you have to consider that the fact school's a mess is not because the lack of religious attitude of its students, people have the right to believe in anything they want, the problem is not religious, it's a cultural and social problem. Anyway, diference makes people join a group they can be associated, if you bring another source of diferenciation like religion is, besides kids fighting each other because they're black or white, they'll be fighting because they're jew or catholic or whatever. "Fighting for religion, something i don't understand" .

Peace,
MAIA

Ok, first of all, you are allowed to pray in school all you want, as long as a school official does not lead it. I'm not religious in any way, and I disagree 100% with the school sponsoring any religion. That's not the government's job.

Second of all, why do people think that because the word God appears in the original documents of our nation that the people who wrote those documents were Christian, or intended them to be interpreted in a Christian manner? The fact is, a great majority of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christians, and most of the rest of them were either Unitarians or Universalists. Here's a few quotes, if you don't believe me:

I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature.
-- Thomas Jefferson
The United States is in no way founded upon the Christian religion
-- George Washington & John Adams, in a diplomatic message to Malta.
This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.
-- John Adams, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson.
The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma.
-- Abraham Lincoln
"It is the duty of every true Deist to vindicate the moral justice of God against the evils of the Bible."
-- Thomas Paine
"I would not dare to so dishonor my Creator God by attaching His name to that book (the Bible)."
-- Thomas Paine
"Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together."
-- James Madison

So there you go. Even the so-called father of the constitution was against what you seem to believe is some kind of injustice. So, pray to yourself, just don't try to drag me into it, as I have no desire to pray with you.

Amen!

What really makes me laugh is the Christian right wailing about public prayer in schools. Did they not read the Bible? It clearly states to pray in secret so that no one else knows what you're doing. This is to keep one from falling into the trap of religious arrogance. Perhaps that is why there is so little tolerance among most Christians.

The thing that gets me about the "Pledge of Allegiance" is that this nation, as if another nation is not, under God. Oh! How special and blessid!

I have reason to believe they are...hehe. I know *I* didn't make them up, so if they are made up, it wasn't my fault. Although I am quite sure that most of the founding fathers were Deists, and hence those quotes do fit the people saying them.

LOBO, only thing shrooms ever taught me is that I can hallucinate like a mad man. You have all sorts of thoughts on deep things but it's not real, it called hallucinating. Nothing you think while you're on shrooms or cid is real. It's all hallucinations. Maybe you should take your life lessons from the real world and not from hallucinations...

"I see you have not learned anything."

I'll tell ya what I've learned. The first few times I took acid all I thought about was my childhood and things that occured during my childhood. I realized how repressed I was and what was wrong with me. I went to hell and met the devil and his demons. I had an interesting conversation with a floor tile. I took 5 hits and went fishing one time and I had telepathic conversations with the fish in the water. The last time I took acid I ate a 10 strip. I thought I was different people, I thought I was George washington crossing the deleware and Bill Gates laying on my bed and I couldn't tell what was real and what wasen't. I realized that none of it was real and I should not act on any of it because I could hurt myself.

I learned that hallucinations aren't fucking real!!! Maybe you aren't bright enough to realize that but it's true!!!

You use them to hallucinate, i use them to understand.
The ones that trully understand the gift of hallucinogenics know what i'm talking about, hallucinations are only a plus and can be usefull, the real reason allways lives inside
Do you know how once hallucinogenics were called ?
Mind expansion drugs.
They changed the name to give them a bad conotation. Man had allways the pleasure to control Man with words, if words don't fit the purpose, then words are changed by those who are in control.

Peace,
MAIA
