Not only is it cold outside...but it's cold in my house! I just checked the thermostat and it's at 20, so you would think that would be comfortable, but I'm freezing to death! IS MY FURNACE BROKEN? I hate the cold. hatehatehatehatehatehatehatehate the cold.
Why can I see my breath in my house?

That, or its an older place with poor insulation. Try shoveling snow up against the outside walls, all around your place. It acts as an additional layer of insulation and makes a huge difference in how much heat it takes you keep you warm.

Oh yeah, and make sure your humidity levels are decent... Half the reason winter feels cold is because people let the humidity drop to like 25% in their home.
Less humidity = faster evapouration from skin = air feels much colder.
I'd rather go the whole winter with 65% humidity, and 15c, than 21c and 25% humidity. :P

come to my house, theres something wrong with our furnace, so my room is like a sauna and the rest of the house is freezing, I have to get dressed to leave my room.
Last night was pretty good, I ventured outside a few times, otherwise I just hung out in the sunroom. It started to cloud over tho.

I'm on my way to get a new air filter for the furnace! How do I check the humidity?

Get a hygrometer. You can get one for like 5 bucks at canadian tire.
Do you have a humidifier? If not, then your humidity is probably around 25-30%. (EEEK)

you have to get a humidity gauge, like the ones everyone here is using for their grow chambers  you can get one ar radio shack here in the us.. usually like $15 USD for a nice digital one, but they have non digital ones too.
im assuming that you would probably have somthing similar at canadian tire??? i have never been there but it seems to be the place

I'm totally on that. Hygrometer, check.
How once I know what the actual humidity is...how do I adjust it higher or lower?

Get a humidifier. 
Really, any kind will do the job.. just don't get a heat based one, as they take a lot of power. Get a coolmist, or better yet, an ultrasonic. You can find them for almost free at thrift stores, or for around 50$ new, depending the type you get.

you really ought to block that vent... your room will still be warm, some of the heat will bleed through and as an added bonus, the rest of that hot air will make it to other rooms in the house!
I woke up this morning and saw a few shooting stars from laying in my bed looking out the window
still under the covers. how it ought to be.

sweater, gottcha. I just turned the heat down, I'm the only one home for now, so I'll turn it back up when everyone else comes home and I go to work, good thing we're all on different shifts
