To make mushroom cultivation newbies a present for the New Year, I translated the PF- tek f?r Dummies that I had previously written in german, to english. It is still work in progress, so expect to find a strange word or a phrase here and there. Anyway, you can access it under this address: www.fungifun.org/pf

it has a few modifications and its all the steps are described a bit better than the original pftek...i think they should add a copy of both languages of that to the grow find section.good work on the step by step procedure and the pictures as well.when i started i didnt know quite what to look for but there wasnt something like this available.so i think is a good thing your doing for all the newbies

The part where it says to flame the needle and then let it cool down for a few seconds really should be clarified. I have seen many many jars not have any growth due to too hot of a needle killing all of the spores. Many skip this aprouch all together and just swab the needle with alcohol.

Well, this is only a problem if you flame the needle between each inoculation point. The way I describe it, if you don?t let the needle cool long enough(5-10 seconds), then you might kill a part of spores of the first inoculation point, but all the others will be OK.

You definitely don't need to flame the needle ,imo, when inoculating BRF. I never have, and I've never had a problem.

If the needle is clean, as it should be, sure, you won?t have a problem. But better be sure than sorry...
