Sativas are much taller and lanky, they have a much longer flowering period, twice as long as most indicas. They also provide a more heady high than indicas. Most pot is a hybrid mix of the two.

Indica = Body high. More "couchlock."

Sativa = Heady high. More of a trippy/mental feeling...racing thoughts, etc.

I love them both. have had pure indica once and almost pure stavia a few times love them both indica is great for chilling out with friends and knocking back some cold ones.
Stavia is great for driving around and hitting trashcans with an old caddy(extremely fun if my friend is driving due to his insanely funny reactions to hitting stuff.)
but yeah i have a strain thats stavia dominant right now very nice.

sativa will make you uppity, usually

indica will slow you down and make you want to just sit and chill out

Some of this also has to do with the maturity of the plan when harvested. if the trichromes are cloudy, amber, or a mix plays into this a lot.

sativas also have a tendancy to make people very paranoid.

Sativas grow tall and lanky, and take a good deal of time to finish growing.

Indicas finish flowering a lot faster, and are much bushier.

I prefer indicas, personally. Much more my "style" but a nice sativa is a sweet way to mix everything up.

Oh yeah, most bud you will find at street level, especially if you're getting bud from canada, is more indica dominant. Sativas take too long for most commercial growers, unless they are growing in say Mexico, where some of the best Sativas originated

indica always worked on my mind more than sativa, but it varies, i prefer it personally

Indica you'll probably find yourself at one point or another sinking back into your seat and just thinking to yourself "My God I'm stonned". Sativa you'll be more likely to find yourself thinking about lamely cute cartoon characters breaking into really cheesy dance and song.

I had been smoking quite a bit of white widdow awhile back and found that the high was spent being a lot more self absorbed and stuck in my own thoughts rather than being open and communicative. I found that the high was a lot more self-reflective than anything else. Indica is always a very giggly sort of high for me, but usually results in a big fridge raid afterwards. Personal experiences will vary though.

Sounds to me like I started off smoking weed with a sativa, and now all I can get is an indica.

I miss sativa. I dont even know what the hell I'm smoking these days. Dealers are usually retards.

As far as I've heard this has been the case with most people, I just lucked out and found someone who can hook me up with some sativa.

It's my understanding that the indica is becoming more popular as it has more of a medicinal value in that it's better at reducing pain, etc. Whether this is at all true I couldn't say, but that's the reason I've been given for the lack of sativa.

I deffinitely agree though, whenever I ask someone "Think there's any chance of getting some sativa anytime soon?" they just look at me funny, or they get it confused with salvia and give me this huge warning about how messed up and scary it is...

*sigh* soo many people dealing just for profits, what ever happened to the people who would deal as a favour to their friends? Or for the joy of being smoked out of appreciation for a good count, a safe and reliable source, and most importantly, being able to tell people what they're getting, and ensuring that they only get good stuff. I don't care how good your counts are or how great your bud is... If "Indica" and "Sativa" aren't in your vocabulary you have no idea what you're doing, you have no idea what you're dealing with and you shouldn't be selling

I guess I'll just have to set aside some money and wind up growing my own hydroponically. With a year of saving I could get my hands on a sunlight shed... (Ponders to himself)

I can vouch for the pain reduction of Indica strains.

I heavily prefer sativa to indica for 3 reasons.

1.) sativa is more of a 'trip' (or an adventure) while indica is more of a "I'm really stoned".
2.) After smoking sativa, i actually feel as if my day was very productive and usually philosophical, and i usually feel retarded and brain dead the whole rest of the day and get nothing accomplished when i smoke indica (a very bad side effect indeed). This ties directly into #1^^.
3.) Indica [dank] buds reek of some foul and potent cat piss, or skunk, or overly heavy pine-scented air freshener. Sativa buds smell like fruit and candy and taste like happiness (especially 100% sativa Juicyfruit Dank [oohhhhh god....], or Bubblegum [ :crazy2:]).

You know what? Now I know that I definitely used to smoke sativa. It was a real trip to me. Now I just wind up feeling like I need to lay down because I'm too retarded to do anything else. I used to draw and listen to music and think to myself. It was great.

I'm gonna try to call the guy I bought that stuff from and see if he's noticed the tides change in the world of weed. He may have moved away, but maybe I can find a way to buy from him nonetheless.

Oh how I wish I could just homegrow. Damned expensive hydroponics.

With a sunlight shed your getting something better then hydroponics you are getting Aeroponics where the nutrients and water is put through a humidifier that atomizes the water(just forgot when i went to type it I'm really stoned right now so yeah ) on some stavia dominant hehe.
its better then hydro Cu's you can mist all the time which means you get more water/nutrient to root surface time which means more nutrient intake which is good.
My friend is a dealer like that he bought a QP and he always smokes me out and hooks me up really nicely45 for 4.3 grams of extremely dank bud. well later

thank god im not the only one sick of idiotic dealers. If im not getting a specific strain name, or atleast sativa/indica from the dealer, its bullshit.

I'm vaguely acquainted (world of warcraft guildie) with someone at sunlight sheds. I suppose I should ask about that.

Dont get me wrong, I know their products are good. Thats why I'll be saving up and buying one.

When I do, and I go to buy marijuana seeds, how would I know if I'm buying a sativa strain?

Would it be stupid to buy Sunlight Sheds' PC case version? or would that be too small for the plants? I know they can get big, but could I just harvest early? Maybe I should start another thread. Feel free to bitch slap me via pm if I'm hijacking this thread.

Most people have not tried even 1/100th of the best indica varieties(less common variety). Id have to say a certain sativa I got from an outdoor grower in maine was still in my top ten, and it was so dark green that it was almost brown. All of my top tens were directly from only outdoor growers that I knew well, and were pros.(these buds have been rained on many times). Sativas are often very heady, so are the best indicas which are as heady but they make you trip your balls off(a very cognative high). Indicas stink the most(most skunky, can even smell like vomit or dog shit), make you trip harder, and almost can give you energy if you smoke less than three hits.(street dealers dont EVER know what they are selling though they give the bud funny names passed down by their dealers)
HEre is the down low, and why.

Cannabis sativa , is a tall plant, generally between 8 and 12 feet. The leaves have long thin fingers and are light green. The more equatorial varieties have more yellow pigments to protect the plant from intense light. Sativa buds are long and thin and turn red as they mature in a warm environment. In cooler environments the buds may be slightly purple. Sativa plants smell sweet and fruity and the smoke is generally quite mild. It is a source of fiber for rope and other products and it contains THC which gives smokers the psychic effects they seek. The leaves of this plant are smoked but the most highly prized part of the plant is the top.

Cannabis indica, is plentiful in the Mideast, India, and Central Asia especially Afghanistan, Kashmire, and Pakistan. It is a short plant, generally between 3 and 6 feet, and its leaves have short broad fingers. The leaves are generally dark green sometimes tinged with purple. As they near maturity, the leaves may become significantly more purple. It is a strong smelling plant with a "stinky" or "skunky" smell. The smoke of indicas is generally thick and more prone to cause coughing when inhaled. Indicas are the traditional source of hashish.

Its true, most people dont know what they are smoking even if someone "told them" what it was.
These days they often mix the two, and yeild tall dense nugs. The best of both worlds in the way of the high, and yeild. Thats why the mixes are so populare for the people who grow for a living.
Not everyone wants to be knocked on their ass with a pure indica after smoking 5 hits, they would rather smoke a hybrid and taste the delicious taste for longer without seeing inside their head and colors so soon, or feeling like they just smoked a bunch of really good hash.

Thats true.
Northern Lights (a 100% or heavily indica dominant strain) is one of the best buds i have ever smoked. But buds like AK-47 and Skunk just dont do it for me.

since sativa grow tall and lanky they get a lower yeild indoors, most breeders would prefer a hybrid with a sativa high, yet a short stout bushy indica growth pattern. Pure sativas command a high price in holland and are often sold out. They have a lower yeild per unit space so cost more due to that.
