Build a incubator like this:

Mushroom Incubator

Well I suppose that you could find some place in your home that is normaly warm (upper 70's - 82 F. for most cubie strains) - Places like this might be found near a hot water heater, a furnace, mayby even on top of some models of refregrators (some fridges give off heat from the motor used to cool the inside). If your a teen concerned about the parents these placese might not seem praticle.

phrozendata - BTW: Thanks for that cool ass link for the incubator chamber.

well i think ill put them by the furnace is hopes of higherr temps although it doesnt seem very much hotter by that. i was also thinking that my jars looked a little dry and i thought i read that that might also be a reason for the slowness, i have no condensation on the jars either, and i have seen several on here with it, is that a possible concern

Temps are everything. I helped a buddy innoculate some jars on the 11th and we didn't see anything for 5 or 6 days then we found a place in the top of a closet next to the heater and it was about 82 degrees. The temp in the closet they came from was 68. When we warmed up the temps the jars colonized quickly. He birthed 4 yesterday and the rest will ready tommorow.

hi....Hairs

Sorry i have been busy alot with the family stuff.
Holidays and all......i hate the holidays....btw

I started my jars on the 15th of Dec.....they are doing so so.
I had a problem getting my temps up like you did.
They were at 72 degrees for a week or so.
The weather started getting cold here.
I have a furnace room.....so i went and stuck them in there.....and then redid my Mushroom Incubator.
At first i tried one that i saw somewhere in here....lol
It had a aquarium heater in water sitting in the bottom....then the jars sitting in water up to half way mark.
I thought maybe sticking them out of the water on a rack might be better....so i did that.
Plus i did some reading and found out that i might loosen the Jar lids for some air exchange....Thats what made the difference....As soon as i cracked the jars open a little and increased the temp to 84 to 86 degrees....They took off like mad the past 2 days.
So I am learning.... and that is what this is about for me.
I enjoy reading the boards and learning all I can.
I really enjoy reading Anno's posts.....he is a very smart guy.
And i am enjoying making new friends :)
Oh.....I started another batch yesterday.....now that my EQ's are looking better....I started some CAMs.
I'll post some pictures in a day or so.....I got a new digital camera for Christmas :)
So i'll update you in a day or so....Hope you are learning too.

Your Friend, Road

as mine are going slowly, i was thinking of ways to speed it up, on one jar i remove the tape covering the hole and put a cotton ball taped over the hole, and was considering blasting others with somemore spore juice, but im all out of b+, the other options are eq, pink buffalo, pesa, and aussie, could that possibly work?

I don't think you should add more spores now.
That probably would be a waste of spores.
I think you probably have enough....and you could use the other spores for your next batch...... I saw your post about mixing different types of spores.....One strain is going to probably take control....So why be wasteful....turn the heat up some how.....84 to 86 degrees.
Get a submersible aquarium heater....or some other heat source. This is a must!

Plus you might loosen the jar lids too.....When i loosened up my lids the mycellium started taking off like mad.

I think turning up the heat and getting some air exchange made all the difference in the world.

Plus all the reading i do here.....Everyone answers my questions if i look around....lol
Hairs i probably read the posts 3 to 4 hours a day.
When i get really stumped i ask a ?
The search has came in handy.....many times...lol

I'll be posting pictures sometime tonight or in the morning.

i untwisted the lids slightly(although i dont think this will do anything, because i have the 2 piece lids) and put them in a slighty warmer part of my house, but not before i added more spores to a jar. the jar now has some b+ as well as pink buffalo. does anyone know for sure that only one strain will come through, or is there a chance for a hyrid forming. thanks

My jars are about 80% colonized now.
They are looking good....I'd love to post a picture.....but i'm not sure how to do that.
My 2nd batch is going nutz too.....they are at 30 to 40% now.
I started them on the 29th of Dec.
So i am learning.....which is what i like.
Anyone wanna tell me how to post a picture up ?

hairs. not a good idea. no a hybrid will not form. that was just a waste of spores. one will take over

My incubator set up.
As you can see I am using a submersible aquarium heater.

I have my jars in tubs....and have a rack between them.

A picture of my jars colonizing 2 days ago.

I will take a few pictures of todays progress.
I'm at about 80% colonization now.
I'm working in my furnace room right now.
I will hopefully have my lab room done in the next week or so.
It's great being single and owning your own place.:)

Josh thanks for showing me how to post pictures.
Your a great guy.
