First and foremost, I must announce that I now have a digi cam, thanks to a filthy-rich investment-banking brother of mine. 7.2 megapixels of hot steamy love.
I've been cam-whoring alot.
Anyways, on with the fun.
The Ingredients:

8 Ounces White Button Mushrooms 1 Ounce Porcini Mushrooms 4 Garlic Cloves (not shown) 1/2 cup of Olive Oil 1 1/2 cups of Parsley 1 cup of walnuts Salt and Pepper to taste 1 cup of grated Parmesian cheese (not shown)
The star:

These baby's are somewhat hard to come by. Most run-of-the-mill super markets around here don't sell it, I had to bum a ride to whole foods. Porcini's are pretty much sold dry in most places you find 'em. They're incredibly strong and pungent in flavor.
They must be soaked in hot/warm water for a good 15 minutes for rehydration:

During this time, I tore off the parsley leafs, which was quite strenuous. But you don't want to leave this step out, the parsley is quite instrumental to the flavor and texture of the final product.

Oh looky here! Porcini's finished soaking:

Stick 'em all into your food processor.

I sort of overloaded it, which required me to stir it and pulse it for several repetitions. You want to slowly work in the extra virgin olive oil, SLOWWWLY. It is also very key for the desired product to come out right.
After it all smoothens out it looks like this:

Pretty gross, huh? Looks like someone ate some tuna salad and puked it out into my food processor. Oh but it is oh so delicious and earthy...
Salt and pepper to taste.
It makes a good fake booger:

Anyways, this post isn't complete at the moment. I have yet to incorporate the parmesian (which i have oh so conveniently ran out of while making basil pesto). And I will be back with some final dishes this sauce was utilized in. As for now, off to the fridge it goes, and off to bed I go.

LOL
Interesting mushroom paste you got goin' on. Reminiscent of hummus, save for the fact there's no chickpeas but I imagine the mushrooms may offer a similar experience, perhaps a smoother texture overall. Generally I'm not a fan of reconstituted mushrooms - but I'll reserve judgement until I get to taste that booger paste
To call this a proper pesto though, I must insist that you add more greenery to it!

This guy flames me over using canned beans to the point of making an avatar of it, here using dried mushrooms to make a "pesto" made from raw mushrooms. You are being a hypocrite Liquid Smoke, it's time to let the amuse thing go and stop comparing pictures of food that you didn't cook nor couldn't cook with food that I make for myself in my own home.
