Put them in the crisper bin in the fridge. If you are going to bag them then put them in a paper bag with the top open. I would only leave them in for 1 day, 2 days max! Just until you can dry them.

Paper bag with the top open, as Mushroom Chris said, is the best way to store them fresh in the fridge. Sealed jar = soon to be gooey mess, that's not the way you want to keep them. Besides, they won't keep for over a week fresh anyways.

Agreed, open air or a paper bag. They'll rot in that jar.

I find that even relatively short spells in the fridge, in the order of a day or so, can produce unpleasant discolouration caused by oxidisation and bruising. I'd highly recommend that you dry them as soon as possible.

Also, if the fridge being used is one also used for food storage, it might be a good idea to give it a good clean with a weak bleach solution or similar - fridges are generally hopelessly unsanitary.
