MarkostheGnostic recently pointed me towards Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism by Lama Govinda, which is an overview of Tantric Buddhism. I'm halfway into it, and I must say, it's a detailed introduction of the subject including the Tibetan chakra system, which is slightly different from the Hindu system. It is slightly academic though, more interested in the ideas behind Tibetan Buddhism than in descriptions of practices (which the practitioners would argue, is something that cannot be taught via books, but can only be taught from person to person.)

"Introduction To Tantra" By Lama Yeshe, is one of the better books ive read on the subject of Tantra withing the Tibetan Buddhist system, as it gives real insight into the practical application as well as a genereal overview of how the Tantric path functions to bring one quickly to the state of complete awakening.
