Vermiculite casing

I planning to make cakes from manure and vermiculite( 1/2 &1/2)and then case the crumbled cakes in vermiculite . (1) Would plain manure cakes (no verm)be better than cakes with vermiculite. (2) Is a plain vermiculite casing a good idea. The strain is ecuador. How does this sound? Any help will be appreciated.

1/2 pint widemouthjar type cake. Really dry manure,like fine peat moss,mix1/2 &1/2 with vermiculite and just enough water.Sound good or what?

If you want my 2 cents:) ....

Don't use the manure at all. When your cake is in the jar there is a very small gas exchange and manure can be "contam sensative". So the manure could qutie possibly contaminate and ruin your cake. Now, if you're head strong on using manure.....

Here's more of my 2 cents....:)

Get a bowl and fill it 1/4 of the way with manure, then fill it another 1/2 with distilled water. Mix the manure and water together so that they are well blended. Let it sit for a day.

When you come back to it, you'll see that all the manure has settled at the bottom of the bowl and that you have manure rich water:) When using the PF Tek, use the manure water wherever the tek calls for distilled water. You'll still get a good portion of the nutirents and it will pasturize better than if you mixed in raw manure:)

It?s hard to tell the moistre of the vermiculite casing.
50/50+ mix and coco coir are much better at this.

As of this moment I am adding water to a crumbled up pile of cow shit mixed roughly 1/2 n 1/2 with vermiculite.To this I plan on adding 1 finely crumbled p.f. cake with no casing layer.Or maby a thin vermiculite only casing.Any opinions appreciated,and we all know, Opinions are like ass holes , everybody's got one. let me here your's.

I cased my birdseed 2 cakes in BRF and Verm. Kinda the opposite of BRF cakes cased in birdseed. It's been a week and a couple days and I've got a TON of pins....put them in my attic yesterday to initiate pinning...guess it worked. I never expected to get this far because this whole thing was an experiment. Anyway, I had success with this and I didn't have to play in cowshit. Maybe it's something you'd want to try.

Thanks Shroomfarmer when i saw bird sed cased w/verm I though isn't that bakwards,but the key word is experiment! If no one experimented this message board wouldn't be here , and shroooms would still be a rumor floating up out of mexico. .....Any other opinions anyone?... ...ShroomFarmer keep me informed and i'll do the same...
