Survivorman

Anyone else seen this show on The Science Channel?  I've caught a few episodes.  If you aren't familiar with it then you can read about it here.

I think its a pretty interesting concept for a program.  And I am particularly impressed at what a good job Les Stroud does of documenting his adventures.  I have carried a video camera on several backpacking trips in the past and I'm here to tell you that its not as easy as it seems to get good footage to document something like that.

His adventures are pretty wild.  Some of them look like they would really suck ass (the life raft and the arctic both looked like they sucked) and others look like the kind of thing I would do for fun (sonoran desert)!

I would be more impressed if he was doing these things for longer periods of time though.  Its almost immpossible to starve to death in a week.  If he was doing it for several weeks or a month at a time you would find out just how good his survival skills really are!  But he does some pretty neat things and has some cool tricks and survival tips along the way.

I told my wife that I wish someone would pay me to go out and have adventures like that!  Her reaction was "Fuck that!  You'll be doing them on your own!!"

that looks like something im gonna view.

I read the hatchet when I was young and immediatly after I wanted to go live in the woods and build myself shelter etc..

I kinda havent been out much to the woods latley since im at college. I must say tho, at my school there is an awsome national park. Its absolutley amazing. The floor of the forest is covered in thick moss. Ill take pictures this spring!
