When are cakes finished?
    #502447 -

How do you know when a cake is done producing mushrooms?
And what if they arent dried out (white and healthy looking) ?

They'll probably be done after 3-4 flushes.

I thought cakes only flushed one time, then turned blue? dont more flushes have to b induced by rehydration? like the PF tek casing method. PF states that the cakes only flush one time unless cased, can somebody clear this up for me? Ii am curently in the middle of my first flushes

nah, they'll flush 3 times approx.
and if you rehydrate between flushes, it makes em better, and can increase flushes..

What if you lose track of the flushes between the cakes? Yet they are all very white due to too pf double ended casing tek.
Not dry at all, will they just stay healthy looking and not produce fruits after three flushes, I would hate see someone throw out a cake that may generate more fruits.

They will continue to flush as long as three conditions are met:

1) There is enough water in the cake

2) There are enough nutrients in the cake

3) The cakes are not contaminated

I doesn't matter how many previous flushes have come from the cake... if those three conditions are met, then it ain't done yet.

I have had several Ecuador cakes give five flushes (I dunk the cakes after each flush) and I have read several posts from people that occasionally get six, and in one case, seven flushes from a cake before it finally stopped producing.

The only way to know for sure that it is flushed out is to let it sit for a few weeks. Even then, I've heard of folks burying their apparently spent cakes in the back yard and seeing a shroom or two pop up a week or so later.

Tenacious stuff, mycelium.

Peter Tosh rocked, man.
