How potent are mushrooms this size?

I let this one for for a little while and it got pretty big. Is it worth it to let the mushrooms get that big or near that big?

That's over mature... I bet it made a big mess of spores.
I like to have golden caps. It's not like it's gonna be any LESS potent then when it was smaller.

to my undersatanding the difference in density of active chemicals between ripe and mature fruits is negligible at best. i wouldn't say let them get over mature like thta, but i'd say let them go at least a day or tw after the veil breaks

Here's the thing, the argument is that they don't produce actives after the veil breaks, but they will keep growing. With this idea I just started pickin all the ones I wasn't going to print because why waste the nutrients making the fruits bigger if they 1.) aren't going to look nice and 2.) taking what could make more, active producing tissue on the next flush

The breaking of the veil itself has probably no effect whatsoever.

You might want to check
Are aborts more potent than fully grown mushrooms?

Thanks for the link, like I was saying it's not like you are missing out picking them early (since you aren't sellin em) because you're leavin more nutes for new, active rich tissues

i've eaten plenty of my own wares, from pin to over-mature.

i've never noticed a discernable difference in potency.

my suggestion is to pick a cuouple days after the veil breaks, but before the cap starts to flatten on top. think of it this way: if the potency is the same (or a miniscule amount less) per gram of mushroom, wouldnt you want bigger mushrooms? if you pick small there isnt necessarily a guarantee there will be more to take its place. plus the more flushes the greater risk of contaminants.

IMO that one is a little over mature and the spores are pretty ugly but, it's still going to be pretty potent if you grew it right.
