Contamination?? Please say no!!!

Ok, I had 2 casings. One in the incubator and one in the terrarium, after coming home last night I discovered that in addition to the bright white mycelium, there was now some stuff that looked exactly like mycelium, only a darker tint to it, almost a purplish color. Anybody know if this is normal? 2 things that might be wrong, I didn't sterilize the top layer of schultz potting soil I used, and 2. I haven't fanned it for a day since I've been gone. Anybody who can help I sure thank you!!!! It may be too late to save these, but if I know what I did wrong, that's something that I know won't go wrong next time. Thanks!!!!
