ive tried it before but that was back when i was young and ignorant and could not colonize a jar so i tried that to see if it would help. i still got zero colonization when using that. now that i am a full grown amateur mycologist i have yet to experiment with it but now that the idea is back in my head i will start more experimental proceedures such as this. but for now i just want to get me a lotta muchrooms as fast and efficiently as possible so i can trip my nuts off on new years eve :) anyone else coming to the mushroom mountain with me next monday?????

Did it with dextrose several times. First time it carmelized. Second time it didnt. Neither times did I get any germination

really!!! no germination at all? i wonder why the addition of nutrients would cause failed germination. i wonder how you mixed it in there and how much you added. i was thinking mix it with the water before you saturate the vermiculite with it and then add BRF. its very interesting to hear results of this though.

My fraind tried this, he used 1 tablespoon of honey in a bowl with 60cc of water mixed well with a spoon untli there was no more honey showing just all mixed in the water, and then put in the microwave for 6 minuts. Added to the brf and verm made a cake , It colonized at about the same speed as the others did but he dosent know what the fruits would have been like, it fell to mean green, bad print, all others fell as well . He hasent tried it since , but it did colonize . Very dark wet looking substrate while it was colonizing, like plastic or something , could be good , try it .

Yeah no kidding. I tried to use spagetti and meatballs as a substrate, and failed, and that's totally nutritious! So I thought maybe like Lentil stew with vegetables might be a little better, parmesan cheese is a little fatty after all, but that did not work either...
