damn, he just asked for your opinion, if you cant help him dont post... anyways dude, from what i gather, cakes are safer from contaminants, but casings give bigger flushes or something. i cased 2 and birthed 10 out of 12 cakes, theyre in the terrarium, and its my first time, so i cant give an opinion based on results. with 2 casings youre investing into a big harvest and taking a risk, but your two cakes will make at least one shroom that you can print and start over, so your making the right decision, i think.

Do a search. Don't be lazy.

There must be something up everyones ass or something.. hes asking for OPINIONS. Not how to do it. I'm sure there has been more then one post on this subject, yes. But thats no reason to be an asshole about it. With the energy and time you took to say "Hey, I'm an asshole and act like a dick so do a search for my opinion." You could have simply said "Casings are better because they yeild higher but are more prone to contams. Cakes are good because they're harder to contam but have low yeilds." Is that so hard?

Excluding 3pt and ralphster

Merry x-mass all!! :)

Case your cakes. Just stick some damp verm. around it like icing sugar. You will get way better results and it shouldn't be any more of a contamination risk. Make sure your hands are clean when handling the cakes, I reccommend gloves.

Personally, I wear my snow mittens....

my opinion is .. after i case my cakes and the mycelium starts to form i cake my casings by taking chunks of it and placing it back into the jars .. sterelized of course and then put them back on the shelf to colonize some more. you get the best of both worlds. hope this helps

I'm like Ralphster. I prefer casing. To be honest I have a hell of a time getting any decent flushes from cakes. I think the way you are doing it is great. Two of each. That way you can see what works best for you and make up your own mind.Casing is the way to go In my opinion.I find casings are much easier to maintain, and give much better flushes. I now everyone says cakes are easier, but that has not been my personal experience. Again, you will be able to make up your own mind by seen how it goes with each. Good luck.
