got tips for birthing?

im going to birth my cakes tommorow, just wanted to see of any of you guys have any tips that you have learned over your time growin.. Anything would help... thanks


and how long does it take from birth -> 1st flush

That really depends on your conditions in your birthing environment, the temperature, humidity, strain of mushroom, etc. But you should have 1st flush in 10-14 days I would imagine.

By the way, the Search function is a glorious feature. If you search on it about birthing you would undoubtedly find a lot of good tips. Not to mention the Growing section that has a lot of teks and documents that are relevant to your cause. I would offer you up some good advice, but I am relatively new, and wish not to lead you astray from the straight and narrow.

clean the jars outside, and the tub they're going in.
clean your hands and wear a face mask.
try to provide the following: 95-100% humidity, regular air exchange, some light, 70-80F temperatures.
have patience and cross your fingers.

Well first thing you need to do is dunk the cakes at room temp for at least 12 hours. I usually let mine go for at leat 24. After that you need to double end case them. Search for it and you'll find it.

Just make sure you keep the humidity nice and high and give them lots of FAE. Fan them as much as possible without loosing RH. When I had cakes I fanned about once an hour.

From birth to first flush your looking at anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks or maybe even 4. There are alot of factors that can make how fast your cakes pin. Just make sure you give em lots of light, about 16 hours a day will do. This will make them pin a little bit quicker. I seen pins as early as 4 days, but sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks for them to start. Then they will probably be ready to harvest about a week after that.

Well anyways. Goodluck and I hpe you get some good mushies. I think I am gonna trip here in a little bit. HA HA!!! I love it.

No never heard of that.

And I was saying for in the worst case scenario. I usually harvest mine in about 2 weeks after brithing. Maybe less maybe more.
