Heating system Help!

hey ppl!! I start to grow mushroom reading all the post and tek's that exist in shroomery and I pass all the stages. Now the big problem is casing, not the casing itself but the optimum growth parameters!! I can't find a heater to make the room at 74-78?F that don't spend a lot of electricity, the temperature of the room is 55?F and if I want to put the optimum temperature I will have to turn on the heater all the day and that will cost a lot. Now I think if I have to buy a heater I will buy a gas heater but the gas heater is huge (too much space) and it will burn all the oxygen in the room.
I am out of ideas if someone can help me and explain how to heat a place to maintain optimum temperature without spend my ass in electricity, it will be nice. And please don't give me brand names because I am from Portugal and I can't find the things that you have, here.
Thanks for the help that you give to me shroomery ppl, you are my mushroom teachers. And sorry for my poor English.

build a little chamber likea storage box from walmart (3 $) and aquarium heating unit (petco 13$) and put the heater in a glass bottle filled with water and stick that in the box along with the cakes. find the optimum setting (heater has high lo) to get you the right temp. 50 Watts of electricity = not much at all

but dyzio I am now working with casing and the place that I put my casing is in a wooden shelving and it is a quite big (I have many casing in there) which as been covered with clear plastic. So what you are telling me it is that the aquarium heating unit will heat the water and the water will worm the environment right? But don't you think that will be not enough because it is a quite big wooden shelving and it will need more than 1 of those device. What do you think?

how big of a room is it?? like a closet, or like a bedroom? and how many casings do you usuly do at one time.. if you only do like a fewe at a time just make a TiT and put them in there. but if you have a ass load going at once then just go buy a lil space heater, there like 15-20$ (in the US) about 1000-1500 watt. when i first set my new one up i put the temp gage in the middle and whent back down to check on the temps and it had my room up in the 100's and its usuly in the 50's. and my room is about 10-15 sq. ft. if you have a big open room i would not go with the heat bomb (heater in a bottle) it wouldnt work to well, there for small closed in areas. hope that helps ya out some.

You just have to provide more information about your setup, pics would be great. It would also be important to know the area of your terrarium.

Welcome to the Shroomery!~
You might consider doing a closet growing setup... this might keep the heat up for your optimum growth parameters.
You could have the TIT incubator at the bottom of the closet... and maybe the heat from the incubator would heat up the closet into the low 70's.
55 degrees F. is fricken cold. burrrrrrrrrrrrr
I keep my house at 72 degrees F. My grow room is in my furnace room which is 73 to 76 degrees F. all year round. I'm glad I don't have to deal with these kind of issues.
good luck!~

If you can find a small refrigerator? You can heat one with a tinfoil wrapped 15 watt light bulb on a dimmer switch for precise control.
Insulation is the trick for efficient heating. You could line any container, cabinet or tote with a layer of Styrofoam type housing insulation ($8 per 4X8 sheet at Home Depot), then heat it as above.

i got this heater from a walmart (don;t know if you have those there) this cost me $30. i thought that i would have a higher electricity bill, but i don't. i keep this thing running all day long, and it will regulate the heat on it's own with a digital display. my bill for one month went up $10. (it operates at a low 900 watt) as apposed to 1500 on high.

it will keep my whole grow room at 77. the room is like 15' x15'

right now i am incubating in a room at about 55 degrees f. so i had to make a t.i.t. i have a camping cooler with an 100 watt aquarium heater in a glass bottle along with 48 pf jars, and covering that is tons of housing insulation and a carboard box... works like a charm to keep the cooler in the 82-83 d.f. range. this is what i recomend you do as well, just turn the heater down a bit to get to the 74-78 d.f. range you can find them at pet stores for under $30
