foil when boiling
    #499681 - 12/23/01 10:09 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

I have a very basic question: can I lay foil over the lid of the jar and then screw the ring part on over the foil? This probably won't allow much air to escape but just crumpling tin foil over the top of the jar won't really either will it? I had a bunch of water get in 2 of my last batch and want a foolproof method for stopping that, will this hurt anything? Thanks!!!

Foilk will work fine but what works even better is not putting so much water in that it boils over the tops of your jars.
