Yeah, I srcunched up tops and folded over and tied with shoelace. I tried elastic bands but they go brittle in the heat and crack open easily. I have taped bags shut with brown tape too. I have ironed bags closed (use newspaper to buffer the direct heat), then you cut the top open and can use it again, loosing 1" of bag each time.

Someday - these bag mouth double filter pieces will available to the general public.
With filter patch bags, you can use a metal radiator hose type clamp & any solid object like a rubber ball in the bag neck. Simply insert the object in the bag neck, then use the clamp, to tighten the bag against it - until you have a solid seal. Simply unscrew the clamp, to open the bag.

spawning with grains is gonna be a bitch with that bag of urs agar - i doubt that even with a flowhood aseptic removal and re-inserting of the filter isnt gonna be possible.
one could clearly inject liquid culture through it, no doubt, but if one wants to use grain spawn - doh. peace ohm

G2G - You PC the bags - without the bag neck inserted (bag neck folded closed). Then in a flow hood or G/B G2G & insert it. Certainly, they have to be sterile. You simply PC them & the filter material in the same run, inside another bag.
The purpose of these bag filter necks is for use with an LC to inoculate into grain/wbs. The object being, not having to be dependent on bags with filter patches already annealed to them.

I wanted something like that bag for a while now, but with a bigger opening. I have got some microwaveble soup containers, the container is like a bowl, intended to be eaten out of it. The hole is therefore very big and the lid clasps on very tightly. I can cut the base off the dish. I can cut a hole in the lid and silicone a filter in place. I can then either silicone the bag to the container or put the container in the bag and tuck it in on itself, then snap the lid in place which will seal the bag. I have made tupperware containers with a double seal too, I like the double on bags since it is easier for the filter to get wet. If I cut a small hole in the base of my soup container I could silicone a filter in place there too, this gives the double filter benefit. I have had problems with poor air exchange on my a/c bags, the filter is allowing enough IMO

Twisting, folding it over multiple times and zip-tying will probably be my method of choice until something better (ie, more expensive) comes along.
