LC straight to bulk without grain

I have the patience for spore to agar to isolation to liquid culture to grain to bulk, but it seems quite a few people would like to skip the grain step. It also appears that no one has come up with a very successful tek for transferring LC directly into a bulk substrate. Here is my query. Does anyone believe it would be possible to add LC to a gelatin that was in between the stage of cooling and not yet solidified? If the gelatin was still in liquid form one could add LC and possibly malt or something of that nature, put it in a large tube sprayer and spray the substrate. The gelatin would solidify clinging to all parts of the substrate, the malt would support growth, and the water based gelatin would be thin enough to allow colonization. Definitely needs some experimentation, but does anyone smarter than me see reasons this would be an impossible approach?

Through further study it seem that gelatin is in fact contaminate prone. Let's suppose though that it has been treated with antibiotics and or peroxide. Would there not be an advantage to this mass? Or is the real problem the amount of time it would take to colonize would outlast the ability of sustained growth without a true nutrient source. (substrate)

The way I have managed to do it....is.
Soak & PC a bunch of WBS in an autoclave-able bag (no filter patch).
(enough wbs for a 25% spawn to substrate ratio, cooled to room temps)
Prep some compatible compost in a bag & insure the moisture content is about 5 to 7% below optimal (feild capacity).
In a G/B mix the 2 together in one single bag & seal with a rubber band.
Inoculate that bag with 100 ml of very very thick LC.
Preferably chopped very very fine with a stir bar & plate.
Inoculate that bag in several spots & tape over the holes.
SHAKE THE BAG VERY - VERY WELL.
Allow that bag to rest in a room temperature, for 36 hours.
(no gas exchange provision, except a pin hole - covered with micropore tape.)
THEN....... after 36 hours.....empty that bag into a sanitized tray.
Seal the tray with with cling wrap.
Hold the cling wrap secure to the tray with masking tape.
Make a slit in the cling wrap - about 4 to 6 inches long.
Separate the slit about a 1/4 inch & tape it over with Micropore tape.
Then, incubate the tray as you would - any grain spawned tray.
This will not work (well) unless you have a optimal high fiber - fine shredded compost. Oddly, it doesn't work well with h/poo.

I think the OP was talking of adding LC directly to a pastuerisable bulk susbstrate. He didnt specifically say it but I got that impression esp. as he talked of skipping the grain step, which I took to mean the perparation of grain too. I tried it with straw and it did not work. I have now mixed straw with BRF and microwaved it. This is a comprimise since it should only need steaming.
