What a nightmare

I used a foreign syringe to inoculate 9 WBS jars. I had prepared the jar's the same way I always do and have had success every time with my own syringes on WBS except one jar that was infected with bacillus.
After three days in the incubator I checked on them. As soon as I picked up my first jar I noticed a tiny spot of green. I let out a few obscenity's and in frustration just threw it back into the incubator and unplugged it.
I just spent the last hour dumping out and washing 9 jars of solid Green mold. What an absolutely disgusting job. I have never seen so much green in my life. I took the jars into my bathroom. Wore a dusk mask. Dumped the jars out into a bag. I did my best to control the dust but it was EVERYWHERE! I've thrown all the cloths I was wearing in the wash. Took a shower and now. Looks like I've got some scrubbing to be doing. Followed by another shower.
Everyone who reads this should take note. As soon as you see a tiny speck of green. IMMEDIATELY dump that jar out. If you leave it two or three more days you will be looking at a HUGE mess and potential contam issue.
From now if I'm using a foreign syringe I plan to PC an extra half pint jar with my grains as a syringe tester.

Your method is a good way to get a heavy nasty spore load scattered all over.
Best (imho), simply fill a large tote or bucket 2/3rds full of hot soapy bleach water & set it in your bathtub. Submerse one jar at a time, unscrew lid a turn or 2 & allow jar to fill with liquid & sink. Repeat with other jars & allow all to remaim submerged OVERNIGHT.
(meaning the sanitizing agent soaks into the jar content & KILLS it)
Next day, dump jar content in toilet (one at a time) & flush.
Then scrub out jars & run through the dishwasher.......

I wanna kick myself so bad but I'm not that limber.
I wish I would have read that BEFORE I started dumping out the jars.
Usually I just take the jars to the back of my yard and dump them all out. Then clean them all outside. It's a little to cold for that right now..
If I ever get green like that again I might just throw the whole jars out and buy new ones.

LOL... years ago........
I took a bunch of jars outside to dump & did so.
Washed cloths & thought all was good.
WRONG.
Was wearing a baseball hat & never throught to spray it with lysol.
Checked on fruiting chamber - wearing THAT HAT.
5 days later....
12 out of 12 big substrate trays developed the GREEN.

Damn...that really sucks.
That's even more reason for me to never let a jar with a speck of green sit again.
I have NO IDEA how many spores are flying around my house right now. I'm going to be doing a complete. "Tear down" If you will and clean everything around here. Start fresh. I don't want getting this green to become a habit.

my technique is to just re thromw the jars in the pc and resterilize them then you dont have to worry bout getting active mold spores everywhere.

for the maybe $10 it costs for the jars i would throw them away and not risk filling my house with all those spores
