Growth in the dark??
    #498617 - 12/22/01 01:39 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Ok, we all know that in nature, p. cubensis grows at night in the dark. is this the case when growing indoors in an terrarium? I have been told 10 min. of light a day is sufficient. Do they actually grow more and better w. less light? Thanks!!!!

well ya see, the mycelium need just a little bit of light to initiate pins. the fungus needs to know which way is "up"
as to whether it effects growth, not really sure on that one...it shouldn't matter too much...

Light is, usually, a must for initilizing pins. Also, it gives the mushrooms a way to tell which is up. Mushroom in good lighting conditions should grow strait up. At the very least, try to keep the bottom and sides of a terrarium dark and the top a light color. That should suffice.
