A+ strain.... what's up?

what's up everyone? This is the first time I've posted in a while b/c last time I did I said some ignorant shit and made some people upset, so forgive me and lets get on with the fungus. First of all, sporeworks is a kick ass site for anyone that doesn't use them as a supplier. Who ever runs it actually takes the time to talk to his customers and make them as happy as possible even if shit goes wrong with an order. So go to sporeworks and support em!!! Second, they now offer an A+ strain of PC's that grow invitro and can be consumed after 3 months of solitary confinement under a bed. They look really wacked out if grown inside the jars, but apparently pack a punch. Can anyone tell me a littel more about this strain, i.e. how hard they are to grow, and what people's experiences are with them???? thanx

The A strain isn't cubensis, it's seperate and distinct (mexicali). If this is your first attempt, I'd reccomend a cubensis strain.

yeah i just read about that too...looks pretty funky =)...maybe i'll try it out...hmm i believe that the stuff that grows in the jars is called sclerotium and it is, to quote the dictionary: "a vegetative, resting food-storage body in certain higher fungi, composed of a compact mass of hardened mycelia." supposedly they consist of about 40% dry weight as opposed to fruiting bodies which contain about 10%. theyre harvest of one half-pint (?? 1 pint maybe?) jar was like 110 grams wet or like 40 grams dried not bad at all for one jar...heh heh...especially since almost no effort is involved... i bet that stuff is nasty ass to eat though...

I did a little reading about this and became very interested. Does anyone know much about the potency of these chunks or anything? I was thinking of growing these for my first time instead of cubies for the simplicity of growing them. Anyone know anything?

The strain is an isolate (as puslce has mentioned) of Psilocybe Mexicana and it requires different a different substrate, incubation requirements etc...

Hmmm, It seems I need to rewrite the Psilocybe mexicana A description to make it a bit more clear. As far as potency, its hard to be sure. It is assumed to be marginally more potent than the average cubensis with good storage ability. I am waiting for some bioassay reports. Its probably not pleasant to eat dried since you must chew the sclerotia thoroughly to make it digestable. Swallowing the dried sclerotia whole will allow them to travel through your digestive system and be expelled intact. Grinding is probably and option, or soaking in water to soften. Fresh sclerotia isn't too bad judging by a small sample that I personally nibbled on. Its kind of a bitter nutty like walnuts with a fungal aftertaste. Not great, but not horrible. Hopefully there will be some grow reports in a few months.
