USB 2.0 help needed!

Ok, I got the new video ipod and found out that the firewire cable will not work with it. So I need to use USB 2.0, 1.1 is WAY to slow. However 2.0 will not work on my computer. I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and am running Windows XP PRO w/sp2 installed. And USB 2.0 still won't work, I am starting to think that I may even need to reformat at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I don't know how reformatting would change anything. Could it be that some of your ports aren't USB 2.0 compliant and others are? Have you tried the ones at the back of the comp, or just at the front? Does the device manager list any errors on the USB 2.0 interface device? Are there any enable/disable settings in there if you click "properties" in the device manager? And why won't the firewire work?
Sorry I can't be too helpful, I've never messed with win XP much.

I don't have USB 2.0, but I do have the earlier USB 1.1. When I first tried to use a USB device with my computer it would not work. I tried so many different things to get it to work, to no avail. Then I found a webpage that mentioned that if you have your computer overclocked, then you may experience USB issues. My computer was overclocked, so I set it back to the default clock-speed, and voila, my USB worked just fine.
Do you have your computer overclocked? If so, you might want to try setting it back to the default clock-speed, it might solve your USB 2.0 issues.

No, I tried that already. I tried it in front, then tried in the back on the MB. And I KNOW that the MB USBs are 2.0.
No, no errors.
The firewire will CHARGE ipod picture and video, but not TRANSFER. How stupid is this? I wish apple wouldn't rush their products and things like this could be avoided.

Nope.
Thanks for the responses!

Check the bios settings first , the screen your looking for looks like this.USB controller is the second one down.

If it's not that I would suggest installing the latest nforce platform drivers available from nvidia and updating the bios to the latest stable version. My NF8 uses the nforce3 chipset and I had to install the latest platform drivers plus a USB 2.0 specific driver to get it to work.
