Down the Rabbit Hole

I really like this little analogy. Down the Rabbit Hole. How far down the Rabbit Hole do you dare to go?
This analogy is used in reference mostly to the use of Psychedelics. But I have been thinking about what it means to me personally lately. What is it exactly I am looking to find way Down the Rabbit Hole? What is down there that is so weird, exciting, frightening, amazing, wonderful at the bottom of that hole?
It dawned on me on my morning walk into the mountains yesterday. The thing I hope to encounter and the thing that is so frightening that it takes courage to Go Down that Rabbit Hole. That thing is me.

It doesn't exist in a spatial dimension and it is only an abstraction to experience the realization of individual aspects of the totality of Self.

One IS the totally realized self.
I'm not sure if one can be consciously aware of every single aspect that make up the self, but one can certainly consciously experience themselves as the totality of that realized self.
Peace.

I agree....with that...
but I was talking about conciously being aware.
edit:
I was thinking that the never ending rabbit hole is part of the total self....and that realizing (or being conciously aware of) your true self..would end the rabbit hole and your realized (or manifestation of) self.

I'd say it means reaching out for the unknown, which means transcending the known, because it is not with what you know that you will discover what you don't
You should be proud to be on this quest "down the rabbit hole". Most people don't dare do this, most are rather stuck in a state where the known brings them a feeling of security and where the unknown brings them a feeling of fear.
"Can the known, which is the mind - because the mind is known, the result of the past - can that mind seek the unknown? If I do not know reality, the unknown, how can I search for it? Surely it must come, I cannot go after it. ...When the mind is silent, when it is no longer projecting itself into the future, wishing for something, when the mind is really quiet, profoundly peaceful, the unknown comes into being. You don't have to search for it. You cannot invite it. That which you can invite is only that which you know. You cannot invite an unknown guest. You can only invite one you know. But you do not know the unknown, God, reality, or what you will. It must come."

You did know they were talking about a metaphor right?
metaphor
n : a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity

I am pretty sure this phrase comes from Alice in Wonderland and that rabbit was white. Rabbits are almost universally used as a symbol for reproduction. White rabbit, wriggling down a hole... How far can it go? Well, we are here, aren't we? Freudian.

you can go and return past the thicket and deep down the hole. dimension lost meaning back in the thicket of words. silly words might declare one agent so far gone, if when snagged on a root or some such, he does not return for a long time. yet time may be shorter after falling in, or forever.

Indeed I did.
You were aware that I was expressing a metaphor myself, right?

"i pushed my soul down a deep dark hole and then i followed it in... found myself crawling out, as i was, crawling in.... "
down the rabbit hole eh? you on THAT trip?
well, me to.
Down the rabbit hole to me means realizing and experiencing the immensity of thought. Experiencing the vastness. Liberating the faculties of our perception from the chains of social programming, and self-sabatoge.
At one point i thought going down the rabbit hole required knowledge. if i just read enough of the right books, i would see it.
Now i realize that time is LONG past. Don juan says "all you need to do to experience the other worlds is gather enough ENERGY. knowledge is not nescessary"
which carlos cant believe. But now i know its true. I already KNOW, i just need to see.
"if it werent for thousands of decisions we make every day, life would be a constant revelation"
for me im starting to see those decisions. Watching TV, eating greasy, fat or sugary foods... eating meat. indulging in boredom, shame or guilt... all of these keep us in our PRISONS.
i have found 3 different tunnels, all of which lead to the rabbits lair.
Psychadelic drugs, dreaming and meditation. Music, painting and martial arts/dancing are secondary paths.
down the rabbit hole, or up the winding stair?
either way, youll get there.
