windows xp + computer monitor problem
    #4978260 - 11/24/05 10:31 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

i'm at my parent's place for a few days. i've been using their computer, which has windows xp on it.

the screen is yellowish and blurry looking with windows xp running. also, when i bring up a new window that is mostly white, it'll come up and look normal for a split second and then get darker and more yellowish. something is definitely not right.

i would have just attributed it to the old monitor, but right now i'm running the machine on a live kubuntu cd, and everything looks fine. no yellowishness, darkness, or blurryness. this leads me to think it's got something to do with the settings in windows. anyone know anything about this?

ps: the kubuntu live cd is running great on this machine, despite its age. it's running better than xp does, and this is off a cd. i've even been able to apt-get software (xmms, firefox, gaim, and gtk-gnutella) and download and listen to music, all without touching the hard drive. fantastic.

Yeah, uninstall the display adapters in device manager

(Start -> control panel -> either performance and maintenance or system -> system (If performance and maintenance was clicked on first) -> hardware tab -> device manager button -> plus next to display adapters, right click on whatever's below it, uninstall, ok, restart computer.
