Fractional sterlization success rate?

hi everyone! I've been considering getting into WBS - it's cheap, it's potent, and it'd be a great stepping stone if I would decide to get started spawning to poo.
However, I'm running into a problem - I don't have access to a pressure cooker, or an autoclave. No one I know has one, and stores are charging about 150$ for them (with any decent size). So, I've read a bit about fractional sterlization. I was wondering if any of you have tried this? Have you had success with it? I understand that it's not as much of a guarantee as a PC or an AC, but its better than just pouring the WBS out of the bag, yes?
Thanks in advance!

About 60% good & 40% bad with grains, so I have heard. Plus, frac'ing is a PITA.

I've been keeping my eye on ebay actually I'm planning to get a PC, or even better loan one from the local appliance shoppe, but I'm rather lacking in funds (college student + car insurance + health insurance = 0 in wallet and maxed credit card). So I was hoping to use something that I had sitting around, like a massive cooking pot and unlimited access to a range - so the fractional sounded like a worthwhile venture. The birdseed I can get from the parents, as they're both avid birdwatchers.
Still a noob here, out of curiousity, what is PITA? (besides, of course the delicious bread circles that go great with hummus)

I had a success rate approaching 100% with fractional sterilization, but as agar said, it is PITA as it takes a very long time.

Well, time is something I have a decent amount of
Money on the other hand is a bit on the hard side to come by, especially since I'm not the biggest fan of selling the fruits of my gardening ventures (I'm not greedy, I just like having a personal relationship with things I put in my body, and I feel kind of like I'd be betraying the little guys if I sold them), and part time doesn't pay the best.

LOL, ANNO......
If everyone had your success rate, this world would be a MUCH BETTER PLACE.
Most don't take as serious an approach to it, as you ALWAYS DO.

The guide is in the FAQ, I added some comments at the bottom which are worth noting. http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/23372
I have had good success fractionally sterilizing in the microwave. It may be a pain if you are messing about with a few jars. Nothing to stop you getting a 55gallon drum with a simple heating element or gas stove and doing 100's of jars at a time though. divide that by 3 and you can compare it to a 18gallon PC which would cost a fortune. I say divide by 3 since you would have to load and heat the 18 gallon PC 3 times and boil for maybe 120mins including heatup and cool down. You load up your 55 gallon drum once with 3+ times the amount of jars that fit in the 18gallon PC and heat 3 times for 120mins at a time. Same work but at a tiny fraction of the cost.
