What they say. You and I, as born, free, American citizens should be allowed to go there being inherently born in a "free", "democratic" country.
But we are not and face prosecution if we dare survey the "devestating" effects of communism.

you guys are ridiculous.
there is a reason that people risk life and limb on makeshift rafts to cross an ocean and come here.
you don't hear of americans or canadians expatriating to cuba.
sure, canadians, italians...a lot of people go there...but they are going to veradero and maria la gorda and staying in protected resorts. resorts where cubans are allowed restricted access if they are employed at the resorts.
life in cuba is no easy business.
quality of life is barely a fraction of what it's like here.
in havana...something like 30 buildings a year collapse from deterioration and lack of care.
their transportation system is a catastrophe.
their electrical, water and sewer systems are abysmal.
you want to leave america because you don't like our government?
america will look like fucking heaven if you find yourself on the wrong side of the cuban LEOs.

That's a lie. Communism doesn't allow Cubans to be rich.

I would move to Cuba.
I wouldn't. If you think you're oppressed now, you'll change your mind when the Cuban government finds you growing shrooms and summarily executes you without even a trial.

ya, cuba is not the place for me due to the laws i break religiously. BUT in defense of cuba... my roommate is a percussion teacher at a local university. he travels to cuba often to play drums with the cubas. he says it is beautiful and the people are warm and loving. he also says the government sux. he smuggles paperwork to the people from america cuz the cuban gov wont let the proper papers get to the people.

I wonder if OP ever found his asylum... It appears that Cuba has granted asylum to about 100 US citizens.
