Trout Mask Replica is good, but my favorite Beefheart album is Safe As Milk. You should give that one a listen. It's excellent.

I would check out The Flaming Lips. A good album is "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" (how's that for trippy and weird?). Also a band called Broken Social Scene. Any of their albums are good but I prefer "You Forgot It In People". Very Very good trip music. I also second the Brian Eno suggestion. Great stuff! "Dead Finks Don't Talk" is one of my all-time favorite songs.
Anything by Radiohead is kind of out there. A lot of people like it. I'm not much of a fan but it's worth checking out.
Something about the recording technology in the 1960s pokes uncomforatably at my brain when I listen to it while high or tripping. I love the music, but I'm a pro-audio guy and I'm picky about sound (recording) quality. I tripped once to a live performance of a band called Particle. They're electronic jam band. Pretty good, but not "weird".

can recommend a Siberian woman called Sainkho Namtchylak. The album is called Stepmother City and its pretty cooked. A lot of it doesnt even sound like its being sung by a human, but its pretty pleasing on mushrooms. A bit of drum and bass is always good as well.

www.doctorsteel.com click on the dr steel guy, then click audio experimentation, then click on the little speaker icon, and then you'll get a listing of tracks you can listen to. Dr. Steel is a hoot. He's all about dominating the world with a toy army or some weird shit.
