fish tank pump setup

do I have to set up some kind of a filter in my fish tank setup?
I've seen on pictures on the web, and many people do that.
there is a filter on my pump, but I don't think it will remove contams.

There are small filters you can buy at any pet shop, you use this filters by cutting the tubing and inserting the filter in between. Beside this filter, i drawn the tube extremity inside a glass full of H2O2 layed inside the terrarium.
Most people only use the glass.
