Casing Question/Problem

My casing is colonizing, but it looks like cotton balls. Is this what it is supposed to look like?

Ideally it should be thick and ropy, very rhizomorphic.

thanks, but does the cottony look mean it is contaminated. It is ropy and cottony... But more cottony than ropy?

That's normal. No, it's not contaminated.

this cotton ball looking stuff was on top of the colonized substrate when i birthed it from the jar. Is this normal too?
