I'm thinking about living in modern times and finally getting myself a cell phone. Was wondering what everybody else here uses or advises to stay away from. Thinking about getting the Razr but now I want to hold out until I get a better glimps of the moto pebl.

I'd probably go for Verizon or T-Mobile, both the best providers in the states IMO.
I actually work for T-Mobile in the Business Care dept. Normal customer care is SHIT and you'll probably get dinked around, but it's a good company. If you have a tax-id, you can activate an account as a business care customer and get more benefits, more credits, wayyyyy better support as well. They have a good line up of phones as well. I never cared for the crap sanyo phones and all that, but I don't know which phones you've used in the past so it's hard to recommend one.

That's awesome. You'll get a lot better service, there's usually more perks and much better support. When you also have issues they're more flexible with credits and retention strategies.
In my department we're technically on par with our supervisors. We can basically do everything they can, but a sup can approve credits over xxx thousands of dollars, but the reps obviously have much better experience and call handling skills.
Hope things go good with the new provider. My local provider is absolute dog shit. (Fuck you Rogers)

Whatever you do don't even CONSIDER Nextel (which recently merged with Sprint), they are shit, if you're interested I can tell you my whole story about how they tried fucking me (seriously). I recently switched to Verizon and got the Motorola E815, couldn't be happier, I get service literally everywhere, I've never not had service. Go with Verizon.
