Strain vs. Strain

I've seen lists of the various different strains. Enough to boggle the mind!! =)
I live in California, which makes receiving spore prints or syringes in the mail pretty difficult. I was lucky to get the PF strain to begin with. Since most mail order spore sites won't ship to California, I'd probably have to result to spore trading on the community board.
I know different strains will colonate at different rates, or fruit faster, or have larger fruits, etc. But if I have plenty of success growing the PF strain I have, is there much point in trying to obtain other ones? ( i.e. Different or better trips from different strains?)

There are some reports that say the effects are different, but in my own experiences, all of the cubensis strains are so closely related, that the effects are more dependent upon set and setting. The strains vary more in cultivation characteristics, such as colonization speed, fruit size, fruit frequency. But these attributes are usually affected more by growing conditions than the type of strain. So to answer your question, since you live in california, I would take what I could get, and hope i don't get caught. Good Luck

I have tried 3 different strains to trip on, same dose, and I have not noticed any significant difference in the trip. They were all fun, they were all 'trippy'
I see no reason to try to obtain different strains unless you really have a need to see for yourself. The only reason I have tried different ones, is I am having fun growing, so far they seem to have different needs and growing quirks.
my 2 cents
Good luck to you

Ok....try this.
Grow out Cambodians and Gulf Coast cubensis.
Eat 3 dried grams of the Gulf Coast.
Then wait 2 weeks and eat 3 grams dried of the Cambodians.
You will see the difference......believe me.

I agree Roadkill. Hell I`ve even noticed the difference when growing PR on rice then poo. Both had similar effects yes, but also had variances that were pretty damn easy to notice.

Thanks bro!
Anyone that has tryed these 2 strains has noticed a difference. They have a very different trip to each of them.

My favorite strains are Cambodian and Brazilian. Cambodians are easy to grow and they rip right threw the substrate in usually ten days for a 1/2 pint brf and Cambodians have one of the highest levels of psilocybe its east to tell. Brazilians colonize even faster than Cambodians. They also have slightly bigger fruits.

You don't need to make a poll... It's been done quite a few times and you'll get 50 different answers for every strain you wanna know about.
I do notice some differences in strains potency, but not really in the trip itself... it's still psilocin and psilocybin, just in different ratios. That can change the character of a trip a bit. I have done Koh Samuis, B+, Treasure coast, Orrisa, and Ecuadorians. They all are good... but potency wise I've gotten my best results from the Orrisa and Ecuadorian strains. I attribute this to my own learning curve with growing though, as my technique has improved so have my shrooms. Now I just stick to the Treasure coast and B+ because they are very easy and produce the amount I want... The Koh samuis and the orrisas were cool, but i don't want just a few HUGE shrooms (the orrisas caps almost got to the size of dinner plates when open), i want big flushes of normal sized ones... The potency isn't really a factor for me, I can always just eat a few grams more, no big deal.
You may think about driving to another state and getting a PO box to have your stuff sent to if no one wants to risk sending you some spores... it sucks, but its better than nothing.
